Frequently asked questions
Honor Built is based out of Hazel Park and primarily works throughout southern Oakland and Macomb counties with some work in northern Wayne county. Please note that due to overhead costs the distance we can travel is directly related to the size of the job (i.e., we can't drive an hour away to replace a doorknob, but we can to rebuild a staircase). Some of the main cities we serve are:
Hazel Park | Madison Heights | Ferndale |
Troy | Warren | Sterling Heights |
Centerline | Oak Park | Royal Oak |
Berkley | Clawson | Huntington Woods |
Southfield | Roseville | Rochester |
Birmingham | Lathrup Village | Fraser |
No, in Michigan there is no such thing as a handyman's license. Honor Built Handyman and Home Solutions, LLC is licensed as a Residential Building Company meaning we can do most residential construction jobs regardless of size. Without an electrical, plumbing, or mechanical (HVAC) license the work we can do is limited to minor repairs in those trades.
It should also be noted that Michigan has a $600 limit on most categories of work that can be done without a license. Be aware that if you hire someone unlicensed for a job over that line, your recourse may be limited if anything goes wrong.
Our process is straightforward and we aim to make it as smooth as possible. First step is to reach out to us and give us a brief description of your project and location. If it is in our wheelhouse we will set up a time to come out and do a no cost site visit to get measurements, pictures, and a general feel for the working environment.
After this we will put together an estimate with a detailed scope of work and send it to you as a link in an email and/or text message. If everything looks good you can accept it right there, sign online, and pay any required deposit in one stop.
Next we will contact you to schedule a date and time for work to begin. We'll show up, start working according to the plan, watch the plan fall apart as the inevitable surprises pop up, adjust to said surprises, and carry on until the job is completed to your satisfaction. Once you've approved, we'll mark the work order complete and send the final invoice the same way you received the original estimate.
At this point, if you're happy with us we would greatly appreciate a review on our Google business page or Facebook, or wherever you found us!
